I’m so glad you stopped by. I truly believe that we can help one another—your gifts may be the very thing this ministry needs, and in turn, we may have exactly what you need. That’s why we’re here: to collaborate, to uplift, and to walk this journey together.

God placed this ministry on my heart to be an advocate for change—because people can change, and second chances are for everyone. Not just for those who have never been to prison, but also for those who have walked that path and are seeking a new beginning.

This is more than a prison ministry. It is a reentry ministry, created not only for those directly impacted by incarceration, but also for families, caretakers, and children who carry the weight of a loved one’s sentence.

Take a moment to explore how we can serve you—or how you can be a blessing to us. We are always looking for partners to join us in this mission of hope and restoration. Even if you never felt “called” to prison ministry, your support for those who have been impacted can be a powerful blessing.

Together, we can show the world that redemption is real, and that second chances truly transform lives.

Melisha Johnson's Bio

Melisha Johnson is the Founder and CEO of The Compassionate Advocate and Jesus Is the Key to Re-entry. Since 2020, she has dedicated her life to helping incarcerated and returning citizens find hope, healing, and purpose through Christ.

Her passion for this work was born out of a deep compassion for those who are often overlooked and unheard. Melisha has witnessed firsthand the struggles that come with incarceration, reentry, and the stigma of a criminal record. She believes that no one is beyond redemption and that, with faith, guidance, and community support, lives can truly be transformed.

As a visionary leader, Melisha has built bridges between the church and the community, creating a support system that addresses spiritual, emotional, and practical needs. Under her leadership, The Compassionate Advocate has organized outreach programs, provided advocacy for incarcerated individuals, and helped returning citizens access resources to successfully reintegrate into society.

Melisha is not only an advocate but also a mentor, encourager, and servant leader. She often says, “People can change—that’s the very heart of the gospel.” Guided by 2 Corinthians 5:17, she inspires others to see the God-given potential in every person and to join in the mission of giving second chances.

Through her faith-driven leadership, Melisha continues to be a voice for the voiceless, a champion for justice, and a beacon of hope for individuals and families impacted by incarceration.
