PREVENTION OUTREACH

What is Prevention? Prevention is the intentional work of stopping problems before they start or keeping them from getting worse. In the work of justice, reentry, and community advocacy, prevention means addressing the root causes that often lead people into incarceration, crisis, addiction, homelessness, family breakdown, or repeated cycles of poor decisions.

Prevention asks:

“How do we help people before they reach the breaking point?”

Examples of prevention:

* Teaching youth about consequences, choices, peer pressure, and purpose

* Mentoring individuals at risk of incarceration or gang involvement

* Providing mental health support before crisis escalates

* Helping families navigate conflict before it leads to separation

* Connecting people to substance abuse treatment early

* Financial literacy and job readiness training

* Reentry planning before someone is released from incarceration

* Spiritual guidance, life coaching, and accountability
