The Compassionate Advocate, Inc., in partnership with Jesus Is the Key to Reentry, invites you to the 2nd Annual Restoring the Broken Workshop: Breaking the Cycle Before It Begins.Restoring the Broken is more than an event. It is an opportunity to bring together formerly incarcerated individuals, families, faith leaders, criminal justice professionals, community leaders, advocates, and concerned citizens for honest conversations about what it takes to interrupt cycles of incarceration, strengthen families, reach our youth, and create pathways toward restoration. We believe prevention and restoration require the entire community.
ADMISSION IS FREE

WHY RESTORING THE BROKEN?
Behind every incarceration is a person, a family, and a community affected by its impact. This year’s theme, Breaking the Cycle Before It Begins, challenges us to look beyond incarceration itself and ask:
-
What can we do BEFORE someone enters the criminal justice system?
-
How do we strengthen families affected by incarceration?
-
How do we reach our young people before destructive choices become lifelong consequences?
-
How can churches and community organizations become more involved in prison and reentry ministry?
-
How do we support people returning home so they have a genuine opportunity to rebuild their lives?
Restoring the Broken creates a space to have these conversations—and move from conversation to action. A POWERFUL COMMUNITY CONVERSATION. This year’s workshop will feature a unique and powerful moment : A FORMERLY INCARCERATED WOMAN AND THE DISTRICT ATTORNEY SHARING THE SAME STAGE.
Evangelist Melisha Johnson, Founder and Executive Director of The Compassionate Advocate, Inc., will be joined by District Attorney Harold McClendon, our keynote speaker, along with pastors, educators, advocates, returning citizens, ministry leaders, and other community voices. Pastor Mike Moody will serve as Moderator. Together, we will discuss prevention, accountability, restoration, second chances, family healing, youth intervention, prison ministry, reentry, and the role each of us can play in breaking cycles within our communities.
